The Civil Aviation Ministry has approved a proposal for setting up of water aerodromes in the country, The proposal was give a thumbs up  by Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu on 10 august. Here are a few things you might like to know : There was a guidelines issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)in june this year regarding the prescribing procedures and requirement for licencing of water aerodromes. Since there is no  data on the market and demand from any airlines, the project will be carrried out as a pilot project .The development would pave the way for operation of amphibious planes (both in land and water) to enhance air connectivity.It is also proposed that the aerodome will be settled  in areas of tourist and religious importance.
