1.About the Company

Infosys is an Indian multinational company, headquartered in Bangalore. Infosys was established in 1981 by a group of seven people with an initial capital of only $167 in Pune, Maharashtra. In 2016-17, it has now become the 2nd largest Indian IT service company in terms of revenue. It provides information technology services and business consulting and has a global presence with offices and development centers all across the world. Infosys has also established the world's largest corporate university. The Infosys global education center is located on the 337 acres campus in Mysore, Karnataka.


2.History:

  • 1981 - N R Narayana Murthy and six engineers established Infosys in Pune, India with an initial capital of only $167. The company received its first order from Data Basics Corporation of New York in the same year.
  • 1983 - Shifted headquarters from Pune to Bangalore.
  • 1987 - First international office opened in Boston, US.
  • 1993 - Infosys introduced Employee Stock Options (ESOP) program and also launched its initial public offer (IPO) in February 1993 with an offer price of ₹95/share with book value of Rs. 20/share.
  • 1995 - The First European office in the UK and Global Development Centers at Toronto and Mangalore were opened and also established e–Business practice.
  • 1998 - Practices of enterprise solutions (packaged applications) begun by the company.
  • 1999 - Revenue reached the $100 million mark and in the same year it was listed in NASDAQ.
  • 2000 - Company’s revenue touched the $200 million mark.
  • 2001 - Company touched the $400 million revenue mark and was rated as the Best Employer by Business World/Hewitt.
  • 2002 - Touched the $500 million revenue mark. Nandan M Nilekani became CEO from N R Narayana Murthy. Infosys collaborated with the Wharton School of Business, the University of Pennsylvania to set up The Wharton Infosys Business Transformation Awards (WIBTA). Launched "Progeon" in the same year.
  • 2004 – $1 billion revenue mark achieved .
  • 2006 – 25th year of establishment touching the $2 billion revenue mark. Founder, N R Narayana Murthy retired from the services of the company. The Same year it became part of NASDAQ-100, first Indian company to be a part of any of the major global indices.
  • 2007 - Crossed $3 billion revenue.
  • 2011 – The company bagged the second contract of Rs 700 crore. Financial services systems integrator contract from the Department of Posts (DoP).

3.Operations:

  • Infosys had added 2.2 million sq. ft. of infrastructure space in the year 2016-17.
  • 44.5 million sq. ft. was the total available space as on March 31, 2017
  • The total number of marketing offices as on March 31, 2017 was 84, compared to 85 in the previous year.
  • The total number of clients increased from 1092 to 1162 in FY 2016

12.Subsidiaries:
