History-
- 1968 - Tata Consultancy Services Limited was incorporated in 1968 by a division of Tata Sons Limited.
- 1971 - they started their first international assignment.
- 1981- the company set up India's first IT R&D division the Tata Research Design and Development Centre at Pune
- 1985- it established India's first client-dedicated offshore development centre for “Compaq” ( than Tendem.)
- 1989 - TCS delivered an electronic depository and trading system called SECOM for SIS SegaInterSettle Switzerland,which it later acquired
- 1993 - partnered with Canada-based software factory Integrity Software Corp, which TCS later acquired.
- 2001- the company completed the acquisition of public sector unit CMC Ltd
- 2004 - On 25 August 2004, became a Publicly Listed Company
- 2004-05 - TCS acquired WTI Advanced Technology Ltd and TCS Business Transformation Solutions Ltd (Previously Phoenix Global Solutions (India) Ltd) subsequently these two companies became the subsidiaries of TCS.
- 2005 - became the first India-based IT services company to enter the bioinformatics market.
- 2006 - Designed an ERP system for the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.
- 2011 - Entered the small and medium enterprises market for the first time, with cloud-based offerings.
- 2014 - it became the first Indian company with over Rs 5 lakh crore market capitalization.
- 2015 - In january TCS ends RIL's 23-year run as most profitable firm.
- 2017, the company announced a partnership with Aurus, Inc., a global leader in innovative payments technology, to deliver payment solutions for retailers using TCS OmniStore, a first of its kind unified store commerce platform.
