About XAT Examination

XAT 2018

XAT stands for Xavier Aptitude Test. It is an entrance exam conducted by XAMI (Xavier Association of Management Institutes) for over 60 years now, to select candidates for admission to management institutes. Apart from XLRI (Xavier Labor Relation Institute), the Xavier Aptitude Test score is accepted by some of the top B- Schools in India. After CAT, this has emerged as the second most popular test for MBA aspirants. The difficulty level of XAT is generally regarded as more than that of CAT and preparing for it requires utmost dedication, practice, and sincerity. At present, more than 150 B-Schools across India accept XAT scores to shortlist candidates for management courses. XAT is organised at more than 35 centers within India and at least two centers abroad (Dubai and Kathmandu).

Minimum Cutoff

As the exam XAT is mainly targeted to get into Xavier's, the cutoff criteria are one of the main dilemmas for aspirants. The cutoff percentile differs every year and the minimum cut off percentile is set determining many factors such as:

  • Difficulty level of XAT
  • Previous year admission trends
  • Number of applications received
  • Number of seats available in the Institute
  • Reservation norms
  • Last year cutoff

Though all the 11 associate members of Xavier's hold the same brand name, but the reputation and cut off percentiles differs from one another.
